Once a shy kid and now a man of few words, my passion for art gave me a voice. It takes just one. And for me that was my mom. She didn’t hesitate to do all she could to help me nurture my craft when told I had potential. My initial creative diet consisted of Saturday morning cartoons, movies and video games. So of course that’s what is reflected in my art. Until my elementary school art teacher encouraged me to create my own characters. That’s when it opened up for me. I started to find influences from family, my faith, people and the world around me. To create back stories for the hero characters and fantasy worlds I created. In my high school fine art classes I explored art that shared stories about myself.
Now joyfully married with children of my own. My art has been about families that help shape who we are. Being is beautiful and a gift. I want to capture love, joy, faithfulness, wonder, peace, grief, perseverance, empathy, and forgiveness in the highs and lows. There are life giving lessons in both. I want to highlight the wealth in moments and experiences we take for granted. I hope to impart truth to resonate. With care in each mark and color I aim to spark wonder that moves you.
I work digitally with a traditional medium approach. My lines are rough and colored to compliment the hues and values of shapes. I love playing with texture and color temperature when rendering light as well as shadow. Composition plays a big part in my work. At times venturing into a cinematic approach.
