Tyra Schad
Growing up in Vancouver, I was surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of mountains, forests, and the ocean. This environment inspired me from an early age, informing my creativity and imagination, fueling a deep appreciation for the wonders of nature, which, along with my love of education, continue to influence my work today.
With a foundation in illustration, I've spent the past two years refining my skills as an independent animator and children's book illustrator. During this time, I've had the privilege of working with clients like Scientific American, MySpaLive, and Friesen Press, blending storytelling with visual innovation.
In my children's book illustrations, I strive to create vibrant, whimsical worlds that captivate young readers' imaginations. My animations and illustrations aim to be both visually stunning and emotionally engaging, drawing inspiration from everyday life.
In my free time, I love visiting art galleries, dancing, and skiing, all of which inform my creative process. I naturally gravitate towards stories that speak to curious-minded adventurers, stories including humor, and, of course, stories of animals and nature. I love illustrating subjects that celebrate kindness and friendship in unlikely places. My hope is for kids to feel joy as they connect to my characters.
