I’m Melissa, an illustrator and visual development artist.

I’m inspired by the Irish countryside, paintings, old homes full of antiques, big brave shapes and childlike magical thinking. 

At the heart of my work is a sense of curiosity. Growing up in the south east of Ireland, I was surrounded by landscapes that felt like they held secrets. I want my art to spark that feeling of stepping into a grand house with hidden doors and passages, where anything could happen if you look a little closer. 

More than anything, I want to inspire children to ask questions, explore, and celebrate the magic in the everyday world around them. 

Aside from my illustration work, I hold a B.A. in Animation and have over 12 years of experience adapting stories for television and film. I’ve recently returned to Waterford, Ireland with my partner, daughter and cat Babette.
